The Petting Zoo

Nick and his cousins (minus Kaden, since he had school to attend to) went to the petting zoo at Gardner village on Thursday the 17th. In some of the pictures, you’ll notice how Nick is bending over to “look” at the animals. Well, he wasn’t so much “looking” at the animals, as he was talking to the animals.

He loved riding the pony and wanted to go a second time. I think that in addition to our own little Dr. Doolittle, we may have a little cowboy as well. We’ll have a cowboy doctor in the family. The possibilities are endless….

At the Zoo

PICT2335

Thursday, we decided that since Brielle has never been to a zoo, save it be a petting zoo, that we would take a little excursion to Hogle Zoo to see the animals.

These kids are so funny and have such a good time together. Brielle leaves this week to go back home to California and I know that Nick will miss her.

Nick’s First Camping Trip

It’s amazing to me the amount of dirt that a 2 year old can get on himself while camping. He kinda looks like a little raccoon or panda bear. I can’t be sure which. He sure had a good time though.

Getting chewed out by a 2 year old

It’s funny to watch a 2 year-old’s personality immerge as they grow. Today, I was in the kitchen getting breakfast ready and Nick was watching Caillou (pronounced Ky-you, for all of you that don’t know) in the living room. I had the water running, and the next thing I knew, I heard Nick yell, “Daddy! Turn off the water! I can’t hear Caillou.” So, I walked in the living room to turn up the TV a little and he said, “You’re being noisy.” I apologized and then started laughing when I got to the kitchen. Where do they pick this stuff up. I’m pretty sure that I’ve never said that to Emilie and she’s never said it to me. Ah, the joys of parenthood. The things kids say.

Baby Progress Report – 23 Weeks

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, our baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside the womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Again, this is NOT a picture of our baby, but a picture of a baby at the same stage of development as our little guy!
